Reinsurance renewals: A steady market outlook for 1 January

As the industry looks toward the January renewals, Chris Donelan, CEO, Global Reinsurance shared perspectives with The Insurer TV on market conditions, discipline and expectations for an efficient renewal season.

In the interview, Donelan observed that the reinsurance market remains relatively calm as the industry approaches one of its most important renewal periods of the year. Against that backdrop, the 1/1 renewal is expected to be “pretty efficient,” reflecting a market environment characterized by continued discipline, stability and constructive engagement between reinsurers, cedants and brokers.

The discussion comes at a key point in the annual reinsurance cycle, as market participants evaluate risk appetite, pricing adequacy, capacity and evolving client needs. While recent years have brought meaningful shifts in market dynamics, the current environment appears more orderly, with participants focused on maintaining balance and ensuring sustainable outcomes.
